I felt so encouraged and cared for by the staff. I went in with my 35 year old wedding dress that I couldn't get to zip. My husband and I were wanting to get a special picture in our wedding attire for our 35th wedding anniversary. The seamstress thought it was my bra preventing my dress from closing. She was exactly right. The dress closed and it fits perfectly. No alterations were needed. I had gone to another place and quoted several hundred dollars to altar the dress. This seamstress at the Wedding Seamstress took about 30 seconds to see the issue and silver my problem without altering anything. There was no charge and she happily let my husband take numerous pictures. I would highly recommend this place, because I was treated so well and could see the expertise the seamstress had.
I originally took my dress to seamstress who didn't specialize in wedding gowns and she thought the entire dress needed to be reconstructed to fit me and was estimating $800+ for the alterations and at least 3 fittings. After a consultation at the Wedding Seamstress, I felt at ease when they told me the handful of alterations could be done for $500. They have a unique body scanning machine that takes all of your measurements (plus they also do it by hand), which meant I only went in for the initial and final fittings. The bustle was great (although 1 button point did get ripped out by the end of the night) and the other alterations made it fit like a glove. When I went for the final fitting, the cups needed to be adjusted a little and they had a seamstress come right away to make the corrections so I could still take it home that day. Another perk was knowing that they are a shop with specialized storage and insurance, which was not the case with the in-home seamstress I first visited. I would definitely recommend the Wedding Seamstress for your bridal gown needs!
What an inspiring place with amazing staff. Makes you feel awesome.
I was referred to The Wedding Seamstress by my wedding dress shop and they did a fantastic job on my dress. I went for three separate appointments to try on my dress at various stages in the alteration process. The tailors that worked there were super friendly and kind to me. They took a video of my dress bustle so I could share it with my Matron of Honor who was not able to attend my final fitting. Overall, would recommend to others looking to get their wedding dress altered. One bit of feedback I have for The Wedding Seamstress is to not push the body scanner on brides. I get the intention behind it with helping to show "progress" along the alteration process but I was shocked when I received the report via email. The report includes all of your information (Full name, email, age, weight, height, measurements) along with a 3D image of your body (which was quite revealing). It did not feel safe having a document like that sent to my email. It would be important to provide an example of what the report looks like up front and let brides opt in or opt out of the scanner. It felt like a requirement in the alteration process.
I had a great experience with The Wedding Seamstress. Everyone was very kind, professional and efficient. I particularly liked Brad, he was very welcoming and down to earth and just made the whole experience very pleasant. Would definitely recommend!
